[HanCinema's News] Distribution Rights to "Brave Citizen" Sold to 15 Countries

Finecut has confirmed that distribution rights to "Brave Citizen" have been sold to fifteen overseas markets. The news comes as the action film clears two hundred thousand theatrical admissions after a week of availability at the South Korean box office. While the numbers aren't that strong, Finecut has still been able to sell distribution rights to "Brave Citizen" on the strength of Shin Hye-sun's reputation as well as South Korean action films in general.

November releases for "Brave Citizen" have already been confirmed in Taiwan, Vietnam, and Cambodia. MovieCloud, which is distributing "Brave Citizen" in Taiwan, said in a statement that the original webtoon on which "Brave Citizen" is based is quite popular in Taiwan. MovieCloud also compared "Brave Citizen" to "The Roundup" in terms of its action potential with a feminine twist, thanks to Shin Hye-sun's status as a leading lady.

The Japanese distributor KADOKAWA K+ echoed these statements about the popularity of the webtoon and Shin Hye-sun's appeal, while also adding that Lee Jun-young was a compelling villain, and this gave them decent hopes for marketability. Lumix Media, which is handling Vietnamese distribution, described the opportunity of being able to introduce Vietnamese audiences to the film as an honor. "Brave Citizen" stars Shin Hye-sun as a boxer turned teacher who takes a stand against bullying.
